21 Years on NG

Wow, my account is so old it is now of legal drinking age in the US. I think that's neat, because it's definitely the longest I've actively stayed on a single platform online. Like, I think about all the other stuff I've joined and left in this span of time, and how many sites themselves started and died in that period as well. So it's not lost on me how cool it is that Newgrounds is still here, especially in this age of the internet, and I'm happy that this is still my main "hub" online where I direct people to see my work. Here's to many more!

Coincidentally too, and I was reminded of this because photos showed up in my "memories," this is the same day I went to the Newgrounds HQ for Pico Day in 2016. So that's a cool bonus association. :) Here's Melody on the chalk wall back then:

I hope this doesn't come across as too personal, but did you ever have an edgy phase at 14 on newgrounds like the site was known for being?

Compared to the rest of the site not really haha, but I definitely still had a relatively edgy teen phase by my own standards

How do you feel about being twice the age of an average NG user? Do you perceive a huge generational gap between you and the rest of the community?

I mean I'm not a very social person so I don't really keep tabs on the majority of communal stuff here (or anywhere). But I see it actually spill out more into other platforms where I'll see younger people drawing Newgrounds stuff, especially so since the advent of FNF. I think it's cool! Don't get me wrong, it definitely makes me aware of the passage of time lol, but it's also like...wow this site has been around long enough to span generations, and I'm seeing new people get into animating or making games more or less the exact same way I did, just by being on here and seeing other people make the kind of stuff you want to. It makes creating feel much more accessible.

ill never forget what Daveb0t did

I wonder how did you find Newgrounds in 2004?

Well I definitely had been on the site even before that, I just didn't make an account until I was animating and planning to upload my own stuff. I don't remember specifically though! I'm sure it had to be just one game or animation shown to me by someone else that opened the door, but I couldn't even guess what it would have been.

You joined in 2004?
Damn i was just born at that year, you are old

And it'll happen to you toooooo!

Bro i didnt even exsist that long ago!
